Inspired by the brilliance, bravery, humanity and humour of George Bernard Shaw, the Shaw Festival is a crucible of progressive and provocative ideas, which illuminate our understanding of today’s world. The 2007 playbill, centered on the era of Bernard Shaw (1856-1950), covers a diversity of views that shine light on different worlds during a period of extraordinary shift. With intellectual rigor and passion, Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell, now in her fifth season, continues to re-invigorate the Festival with international and Canadian contemporary plays, new translations of classic texts and new plays developed for the Festival. Playing alongside new productions of mandate work, Ms. Maxwell maintains her commitment to present the relevant, exceptional theatre that has gained The Shaw its world-class reputation.

Ten productions are presented this season in three distinctive theatres: the Festival, Court House and Royal George, all located in historic Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario.
